Gloria progress

I am getting to a very exciting point in my stitching on the superb Patricia Andrle "Gloria".  I am about to finish stitching the next to last line.  The last line is a gold motif with the word "Deo" in gold.  That completes the inner design and then will be the bottom border.  See the image below.

The above image is a photo of the magazine page and it does not touch the beauty of the actual piece.  I will finish stitching it and then gently wash and press it.  I have a piece of lightweight interfacing that I will press on.  This will keep the threads in back in place.  Once that is accomplished I will attach the gold beads with white floss and it will be ready to take to C.C.& Company to pick out the frame.  I am so cuffed with this project, the beauty of the blending filament and the opalescence of the fabric is beyond words. I can hardly stitch because my eye keeps wandering over it in admiration of the sparkle.  If I am diligent it could be as short as 2 weeks before done.  I am not holding my breath for diligence.

My two current projects progress!

This is Patricia Andrle's "Gloria" as of today.  I have set it down to work on a SAL project.  Glo is just stunning.
Meet Mary's Sampler from Plum Street Samplers.  I am leading a SAL on the Facebook Group "Cross Stitch for Believers in Christ".  There are 7 or so participants in this casual stitch along.  I am stitching this on slate 28 count Lugana hand dyed fabric by Stephanie.  I am using a mixture of DMC, Dye is Cast and GAST floss.  It has been fun, but I am missing Glo!  Separation anxiety, I think.

Projects three, two yet to be and one in progress you will see!

Here is how my WIP Gloria designed by Patricia Andrle looks at this moment.  Stitching it is a slow process as every full cross has a blending filament in it.  I try to twist, straighten, drag and position the filament to show on the top leg of the X.  It happens maybe 3 out of every 4 stitches.  I know I say this every time but I love how this design looks as it is stitched.  Somedays I find it a drudgery but most days it is a joy to pick it up.

I joined a Facebook group I really like called "Cross Stitch For Believers in Christ".  It is a smaller group but I like it.  I am not hesitant to show my love of my Father, creator of all that is and will be.  It is a joy to share that with other like minded ladies.  I did jump in with both feet by sharing spiritual free designs I found.  I also have organized a stitch along of Mary's Sampler.  It is a free design from Plum Street Samplers.  There are maybe a half dozen on the group who will start stitching it this Sunday January 22, 2022.  Here is a link and a picture of this lovely design.
Here is the link to the color key: Mary’s Sampler Key – Plum Street Samplers

I have also kitted a traveling project to occupy my time while I wait.  My mother is having cataract surgery done on her eyes.  She will have several appoints and I have chosen an easy one color project to work on.
I will be using Silkweaver's Signature Series 28ct linen in the color "Antique Mauve".  The floss I chose was Nina's Threads in "Old Lace". Love both colors and it should be easy to pick up and put away in waiting rooms.  I have no idea how I will finish it once done but "Homemade" is love incarnate.

Well that is it for now.  I will show particulars on Mary's Sampler once the stitch along begins.  So for now, keep cozy and warm as you stitch, stitch, stitch.

Gloria by Patricia Andrle and my progress and thoughts so far!

So my best friend forever and I Skyped today and I took some photos of my Gloria progress. Just a reminder about this piece, I started "Gloria" designed by Patricia Andrle on November 27, 2021. This chart can be found in the Cross Stitch and Country Craft magazine issue November/December 1995.  I was Skyping with my bestie Leslie when I started it.  I am using the called for colors of DMC floss and Kreinik metallics on 28 count Lugana fabric in Opalescent White.  This is a stunning design and we both agree Patricia Andrle is one of both of our FAVORITE designers of all time.
This is the beginning of the wording.  This image does a fairly good job of showing how the metallic blending filament is stunning in EVERY stitch.  It is not in the backstitching.  You can see how the opalessence fabric adds to the overall effect of majestic medieval feel of this design.
The border motifs and these motifs to the right of the "O" remind me of crown jewel gems.  The backstitching just defines them.  The grey crystal type shape of the corners in the far right motif have no backstitching however that just adds to the ethereal feel of ice crystals.  I love it.
Here is even a closer image of these motifs.  I have 3 more to stitch in this row before I get to the right border.  If you look at the gold motif on the left the inner red looks like it deepens to a deep, deep garnet when in fact the back stitching gives it that illusion.  Actually the center is a black +, it is stunning.

The above is a photo of the photo in the actual magazine just as a reminder of the entire design finished. It absolutely does not do justice to the real beauty of the design.

I have stitched on it every day since I started.  I did miss 2 days, December 25th and 26th.  I have managed to obtain my daily stitching goal of one complete motif size area of stitching each day I stitch.  The going is made slow by the Kreinik and I have fought with that blending filament several days.  I am thrilled with my progress and how stunning the design is and have enjoyed every minute I have worked on it.

Top of Gloria border completed...a video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAWp9300CiU

A very short and unprofessional video of the top border of Gloria by Patricia Andrle.  Now to start down the sides.  I am finding thread ends working their way out on the back.  I am not sure how I will tackle this issue.

Patricia Andrle is in my hoop!

I started "Gloria" designed by Patricia Andrle on November 27, 2021. This chart can be found in the Cross Stitch and Country Craft magazine issue November/December 1995.  I was Skyping with my bestie Leslie when I started it.  I am using the called for colors of DMC floss and Kreinik metallics on 28 count Lugana fabric in Opalescent White. O Gloria, Gloria in Excelsis Dio translates to Glory to God in the Highest!

The going is slow with the Kreinik but the results are stunning. I am stitching the outside border and am blown away by the richness of the jewel colors and the overall bling. I am enjoying this stitch immensely.

The overall size will be 10" by 8½" and the stitch count size is 141 by 119. I stitched another Patricia Andrle design in 1995 called "O Come All Ye Faithful".  It is pictured below.

Stitching in progress and ancient finishes

I am enjoying stitching on Pumpkins Three from La-D-Da.  The fabric is an unknown color but 28count using the Valdani floss, Chocolate Brownies.  It looks great and I am glad I chose the Valdani rather then black DMC.  I think it gives a much more interesting effect.

This is my progress on Twisted Threads Bitty Bunny.  Over one is a challenge made better by my new Ott light.

The following are pictures of some of my finishes.

This is the most ambitious finish of my stitching career.  It is O Come All Ye Faithful by Counted Illuminations/Patricia Andrle.  It took me a year to stitch and was finished in October 1995.
This small angel is an Alma Lynne design.  It was stitched prior to 1996.  I had given it to my Grandmother and when she passed in 1996 I asked for it back.  Two years ago I gave it to my dear friend Dorothy with the stipulation should she proceed me to Stitching Heaven I want it returned.
This was a free design which was stitched on Navy evenweave, navy blue being my husband's favorite color.  I believe the silk floss is Vicki Clayton's Turkey Red.  This was stitched in 2012.
This is a C Mon Monde design.  The design is called "Un Tour Dans Mon" which translates to "A Ride in My Bag".  She is stitched on 32 count Enchanted Night from Color Blooms.  She is darling and I kept thinking she reminds me of a Mary Poppins character with the umbrella.
A free design from AutyTM.  It is the 2011 Patriotic Quaker heart.  I used Crescent Colors Wavy Navy, Red Manor and Honey Bee.  I was surprised as the Navy ran when I washed it, I would have expected the red to.  You don't really notice it.  I did love the Manor Red color, very deep and rich.
This is a Mirabilia design.  I changed the fairy's skin to brown to reflect the ethnicity of the lady who I gave it to.  It hangs in my Matron of Honor Beverly's home.

The above two pictures are the front and back of a door knob hanger.  It is a Birds of a Feather (I believe) design and was stitched as a tribute of a granddaughter's love for her grandfather who passed.  It was stitched in August 2016.
This is a Heinzit design which was stitched several years ago.
This was a free design and I have no idea who the designer was.  I believe I changed the floss colors.
This pair of mittens are called It's Snow Cold and the designer is me.  Notice the blue lips.  Yes a snow ball hides his pride and joy.  I have never designed anything but this was an entry for a mitten contest and I should have won but didn't.
This is a Barbara Ana complimentary design.  Love the colors.
This is a very old finish. I don't remember who the designer is, I know I still have the leaflet.  It was stitched back in the late 1980's. I haven't stitched on Aida in ages.

Over one progress and a few odds and ends.

My thrift shop cookie jar.  It is marked 1990 and in no way resembles the pig cookie jar of my childhood.  She sits happily on my baker's rack and she makes me happy.  I paid $10.00 for her.

The above two pictures are of the earrings that I found at the thrift shop.  They will eventually adorn some exquisite stitching I do in the future.

This is my progress on my over one project.  My new Ott lamp is incredibly helpful in working over one.

This is the Patricia Andrle piece I finished in October of 1995.  It is called "O Come all Ye Faithful".  I had a wonderful time stitching this and I still love this piece to this day.  It took me a year to complete.
